Tropical Weather Outlook

Statement as of 5:00 am PDT on July 20, 2008

For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude..

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane
Fausto...located about 515 miles west-southwest of Manzanillo
Mexico.

Showers and thunderstorms associated with the area of low pressure
centered about 200 miles south of the Gulf of Tehuantepec remain
disorganized. However...environmental conditions appear conducive
for development...and this system could become a tropical
depression during the next day or so as it moves westward at 10 to
15 mph.

A weak low...the remnants of tropical cyclone Elida...are located
about 1250 miles east of the Hawaiian islands. Showers and
thunderstorms associated with the low are sparse and redevelopment
within the next two days is not likely.

Elsewhere...tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the
next 48 hours.
