The National Weather Service in gray has issued a coastal Flood Advisory... which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 2 PM EDT this afternoon.
High tide occurs in Portland at 1114 am EDT. At that time... the tide is expected to be near 11 feet. While this is below the flood stage of 12 feet... the strong wave action will cause splash-over and beach erosion in northeast facing communities.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

The National Weather Service in gray has expanded the
* Flood Watch to include a portion of western Maine... including the following areas... coastal Cumberland and interior Cumberland.
* Through Monday morning
* at this time... between 1 and 3 inches of rain is possible in the watch area.
* This much rain could result in some rivers and streams rising to near bankful today and tonight. If 3 inches of rain falls in Cumberland County... the Presumpscot River at Westbrook may be pushed above its flood stage.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The Wind Advisory is now in effect until 5 am EDT Monday.
Wind gusts to 50 mph are expected this morning into the early afternoon hours. Winds could slacken a bit late this afternoon... but another round of strong gusts are expected tonight... as the low moves a bit closer.
Wind gusts this strong could result in downed tree limbs and power lines... which could in turn result in scattered power outages.
In addition... winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
